Change the Way You See Your Dog

ABOUT ME

I’m Alex, and after years of working closely with dogs, I realised real change comes from understanding, not control. My work focuses on helping owners see their dogs differently, creating calmer behaviour and stronger, more trusting relationships.

more thoughtful dog

By understanding the reasons behind behaviour, I create lasting change through clear communication, consistency, and trust. My approach focuses on supporting both you and your dog, so you can navigate challenges with confidence and build a stronger, more connected relationship.

THE 4C’s APPROACH™

I developed the 4Cs Approach™ to provide a clear, practical foundation for dog training. It centers around Calmness, Confidence, Consistency, and Clarity, the four elements I believe every dog needs to feel safe, learn effectively, and make better choices.

THE FOUR C’S EXPLAINED

CALMNESS

Everything starts here.

If a dog is anxious, overexcited, or stressed, they physically cannot learn properly. Calmness isn’t about shutting a dog down, it’s about helping them feel safe, regulated, and able to think.

I work on creating a calm environment, calm handling, and calm energy from the owner first.

CONFIDENCE

Once calmness is in place, confidence can grow.

Dogs look to us for guidance. When you move, speak, and respond with confidence, your dog feels more secure and less likely to make reactive or uncertain decisions.

Confidence is not dominance, it’s about being a steady, reliable presence your dog can trust.

CONSISTENCY

Dogs learn through patterns.

If rules, boundaries, or reactions change all the time, dogs become confused and behaviour becomes unreliable.

Consistency means:

  • Same expectations

  • Same responses

  • Same follow-through

This is what turns training into habits.

CLARITY

Finally, your dog needs to clearly understand what you’re asking.

Clarity is about:

  • Good timing

  • Clear communication

  • Setting the dog up to succeed

When dogs truly understand, frustration disappears for both of you.

REVIEWS

I did not hesitate to contact Alex when I had some issues settling my 3 year old Dax called into our new home. Alex spent the time to research and prepare a fact sheet which was so interesting and helpful to gain a better understanding of his breed and temperament. Alex came and met with us and helped put a plan in place to overcome his anxiety of being away from me. Lots of great advice, suggestions and so pleased with how well he is doing. Thank you so much Alex!

-Simon & Preston-

We asked Alex to help us support our rescue dog, who struggles with anxiety and fear. This often shows up as barking and growling when visitors arrive or when other dogs approach.

Alex provided clear, practical, and realistic steps to help us better understand our dog’s needs, along with effective ways to encourage and reward positive behaviour. We have two young children, and Alex was incredibly patient with them, helping them understand the important role they can play as well.

Alex will also be helping us on walks and helping our dog gain confidence when out and about.

We would absolutely recommend a session with Alex, and I know we will be able to help our dog thrive with her help.
